Thank You for Your Service, Brent!

Our recently retired president, Brent, was presented with a medal for his long standing service with the local. Here is his response to the membership:

“Fellow members of CUPE Local 4698;

I was asked to come to the Local Executive meeting on November 24th to stop in and say Hi.  At the Executive meeting I was surprised to be presented with the inaugural medal from CUPE Local 4698 for dedication of years of service to the Local. I was truly humbled to receive such an award.

I want to take a moment to thank every member of CUPE Local 4698 for the amazing gift of the recognition of my time representing members of this Local. As you know, I retired from Union Executive work as of July 1, 2025. I spent 35 out of my 36 years to date representing co-workers through Union Executive work in various positions with three different Locals that made us who we are today, culminating with my final term in office as President of CUPE Local 4698.

I have taken the liberty to attach a photo of the amazing award that was bestowed on me yesterday.

I never did Union Executive work for any accolades or recognition. I did it because I always felt it was the right thing to do and that we are stronger and better as one unified collective looking after each other.

I truly want to thank everyone for this recognition and in particular I must thank Julie Belbeck for spearheading this award and to Ben Phillion for his hard work in creating the medal. The award is truly well done! Thank you!

Yours forever in solidarity,

Brent”

Thank you Brent for your years of service!
